On the Fence
Photographed in early and mid-August at the farm with the white house and red barn on Hope River Road.
After the Rain
Dahlias at the farm at the corner of Hope River & McSween Roads
Dahlia 'Bee's Choice Mix'
Grown from @floret seeds, this yellow, open-faced dahlia bloomed for a brief time in a container on my balcony garden. A successful experiment that I will repeat with more seeds next year.
It rained today
A gentle rain began falling late this morning,
cleansing the air and renewing the spirit.
Today I am grateful for rain, fresh air and bright colours.
‘Diva’ Dahlias
These are the first dahlias I cut from the garden this year and I’m not going to pretend this is a beautiful arrangement. (I lack the artistic skill as well as the filler flowers and greenery.) But the dahlias did give me abundant joy during a Sunday morning still life session. This has been a recurring ritual for me. I get up early Sunday morning, harvest a few blooms from the garden, drive back to my home in Vancouver, and then spend the morning appreciating the flowers through the camera’s lens.
