My first garden post of 2021 is this photograph of buds and blossoms on the first flowering cherry tree to bloom during this year’s cherry blossom season: Prunus x subhirtella ‘Autumnalis Rosea’ or Pink Winter Cherry. I photographed this tree at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park on January 16th, 2021 so I’m a bit late in sharing the image. By now most of the tree’s flower buds have opened and the blossoms likely have become brown-stained and droopy after the recent rains.
