Ten years ago in mid-January, I first saw Prunus x subhirtella ‘Autumnalis’ blooming at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park. In subsequent years, my timing has been off as I’ve missed its blossoming, which occurs between December and February (depending on how mild or cold winter has been). This past December, I visited Lost Lagoon and was excited to see the first pink petals unfurling.

Two weeks later, the tree was in full bloom. The next photographs were taken on a grey, cold, windy day in early January 2020, just before a heavy snowstorm.
